2011 Summer Essentials

Summer Essentials

Flirty Pattern Sundress:

1. Sophisticated/Sexy Dress  Forever 21 $19.80 Pair with gladiator sandals, a little over the shoulder bag, and bold dangly earings!

2. Fun/Flirty Dress Delia's $35.50 All you need are giant chunky wedges and bracelets that go halfway up your arm, this dress is an absolute attention whore.

Sunscreen- No I am not joking, those of you who go to the beach and fry like little "shrimp on the barbies" always wish you'd lathered on a lil' SPF the day before. Try Neutrogena (CVS makes a cheaper store brand as well) " Fresh Cooling" suncreen in varying SPFS. It goes on evenly, drys fast, and smells good! My mom is responsible for my addiction. This is the one item I will splurge on (I only buy things on sale!) They just came out with another product called "Wet Skin" which is designed to be applied right when you come out of the water (that's the only draw back to "Fresh Cooling" if you put it on wet skin it turns into milk dots on your skin.) The aerosol cans also aren't very good for the environment, but neither is skin cancer!

A Beach Bag- $34.95 If you're going to get a beach bag, please do not buy the "cutest" one on the rack or the cheapest. I learned my lesson on that when I bought my one and only beach bag. It is beige, cloth, has no structure, and it balls all of my belongings into a wrinkly, tangled ball. When I bought this bag I thought it was "hobo chic" when it really is just a shitty bag not even a homeless person would use. Imagine sunscreen, sundress, snacks, headphone, jewelery mashed up into a disgusting disaster. THAT is what I deal with every time I go to the beach. (Thank god I am a work-a-holic and never actually end up there very often)

The Perfect Flip Flop- Now I am going to introduce some of you to the most LEGENDARY flip flop in the world. My Aunt sent me my first pair UPTA Maine when I was in high school, they were black with black beading, and more comfortable than walking on Build-A-Bear fluffy stuffing. Then my friend Emily's dog ate the thong part off one of my shoes. It was a bit hard to walk in them after-that and I couldn't just keep the 1 flippy..so I said a lil' prayer and tossed them into the garbage. I now sport dark metalic blue flops by HAVIANNAS and refuse to let any animal near me while wearing them. I am sort of obsessed with this comfortable yet cute new design! Check out their website, it is way GROOVY and you can even make your own pair.

A great summer read...currently plowing through the final installment..It's a little slow but I still love the characters and the story!

Sexy Wedges $59.99  I am in love with just about every Jessica Simpson Collection shoe ever MADE. I will let you all in on a SUPER big secret. Wedges are far more comfortable than stilletos. The "Gemy" comes in this two tone tan or a patent leather black..as Rachel Zoe would say "I DIE".

Statement Jewelery ranging from $20-$100 Now for Zoe herself. No one does fashion bigger or better than this insane California chick. Her jewelery line screams, "BOLD!" It's absolutely delicious and I love it. I'm saving my pretty pennies to get just one of her great pieces of the collection.

SUPER dark Skinnies $69.90 At Express! While you're at it check out their entire jean selection I kept stopping and oogling at all of them. Too bad I don't have an ass or I would totally open up a credit card and max that shit out on expensive denims. (My butt is not big enough for express jeans..depressing I KNOW!)

A billowy top $14.99 My friend Steph LOVES these things. They come in all different sizes and are super soft and comfy, especially when you're having a fat day!

Pier Fries & Icecream (SO FUCKING GOOD nuff' said)

Hello Fall! Summer, I apologize for neglecting you.

I know when it's time to go back to school everyone wonder's where their summer went. I don't really wonder where it went, I know. I worked on average 50 hours a week, I took an online course, I was in two weddings, I took a trip to Floria, and I had a bunch of doctors and dentist appointments. What a boring summer.

I am going to share a list of things I seriously wish I could have done this summer

1.) Get a tan
I am so pale, you'd think I lived in Alaska.

2.) Visit a farmers market
I am trying to get into this healthy sustainable living as well as eat locally produced food. Heads up this is pretty difficult if you're never home and a poor college student.

3.) Go to a sox game
The only time I have ever been was when I was like 10 and more concerned with getting popcorn and a Fenway Frank. Lets be honest I still want those things but I might actually pay attention to the game now!

4.) Spend all day at the lake
Just read a book, barbeque, and hang with friends

5.) Visit South Portland
Everyone always talks about how boring SoPo is and how there is nothing going on in Maine. But I love it. Willard has the best seaglass, Red's, Beals, SPHOP, friends, family, our ever expanding mall, cruising down highland ave, seeing everyone I know at Millcreek Hannaford, Local Acapulco. It's home and I wish I could visit Maine more often in general.

6.) Save more money
Weddings, rent, bills, gas, food. This is probably going to be a constant fixture, always trying to save money...which is actually a good thing. (At least I'm trying)

7.) Babysit.
I have a big girl job...but kids are way more fun to hangout with and they are adorable.

8.)Excercise
I suck. It's so difficult to get into a routine.

9.) Go to the beach more than once.
I went once in Florida...in June. Enough said.

10.)Start a business plan whether its for my future gourmet lunch cart ( it's a lifelong goal to just sell yummy lunch food to hungry tourists and people on breaks), my restaurant and catering company, or my event planning company
I plan for the future...entirely too much.
